Does Smoking Have Some Health Benefits? Yes Have a Look!!!


Smoking has become a fashion these days. Teenagers are its victim group. Science has proven, in many ways, adverse effects of smoking on human health. Quitting smoking has many beneficial impacts on human body. One of the main concerns with its use is lung cancer. This cancer causing property is due to multiple chemicals in cigarettes. 70 of these chemicals have the ability to cause cancer.

But recent studies also prove healthy impacts of smoking on human health. Strange but true! Here is an overview of these impacts.

  • Ulcerative Colitis

It is a disease of intestines. It causes inflammation in lining of intestines. Smokers have slightly reduced chance of having this disease. According to a study, there is inverse relationship between smoking and disease. Scientists think Nicotine is the element responsible for this protection. However, it is not the treatment for this disease.

  • Parkinson’s Disease

It is age related motor disease of humans. It disturbs motor activities like talking and walking. Smoking decreases the risk of this disease by one-third.

  • Uterine fibroids

Fibroids are harmless tumors of uterus. Smoking also gives protection against endometriosis. It is growth of tissues of uterus outside uterine boundaries. Studies suggest less risk of developing these conditions in smoking women.

  • Uterine malignancy

Endometrium is the inner wall of uterus. Its cancer is very common these days. Smokers have protective effect against this caner. But there is no conclusive research for this fact as yet.

  • Hypertension with Pregnancy

Products of tobacco combustion may play a protective role. Nicotine is not the responsible substance here. This affects growth factors of placenta causing prevention of hypertension. However, smoking has many adverse impacts on baby. As the side effects outweigh its benefits, so smoking is not recommended.

Smoking can lower risk of skin cancer. Only specific type of cancer is melanoma.

  • Protection Against Obesity

Smoking reduces appetite. This causes less hunger pranks. This results in weight loss.

Use of tobacco confers little protection against some diseases. But there is no conclusive evidence of all the facts discussed above.
